Osprey Housing has added to its rural Aberdeenshire portfolio with tenants moving into three new builds in Inverurie. The houses two two-bedroom and one three-bedroom are in Portstown and offer residents state-of-the-art design while also boosting the town’s social housing provision.

For mother-of-four Jane Allan, the move to her terraced home in Portstown marked a new chapter in her life.

Ms Allan had been living in a three-bedroom Osprey property in Insch for the past 17 years but wanted to move following her divorce and after taking up a job as a care assistant in Inverurie. ‘Three of my daughters had flown the nest, so that just left me and 17 year old Isla at home and we no longer needed such a large home. I also wanted to be closer to my job.

‘Osprey were great, with Elaine Sutherland one of the housing officers showing enormous understanding of my situation. She really went the extra mile to find the perfect property for me, Isla, and our two dogs.’

Ms Allan added: ‘We are all so happy to be here and for our former house in Insch to go to a family who need the space.

‘Our new home is modern, bright, and I now have the spacious sunny kitchen I’ve always dreamed of.’

Housing Manager Stacy Angus said: ‘Osprey were delighted to take forward the opportunity to deliver these quality properties in such a high-demand area. It doesn’t matter if we are creating three new homes or 33 we are still making a difference. The right home in the right place has such a profound effect on people’s lives.’

She added: ‘During these difficult times, the need for a safe, secure place to call home has never been more important and the positive personal impact this has on each of these families has been significant.

‘Good quality housing really underpins wider health and well-being in our communities, and Osprey are proud to be continually delivering this across the north-east.’

We are delighted to be able to advise that at the Osprey Housing Moray (OHM) Special General Meeting last night Shareholders voted unanimously in favour of supporting tenants wishes and moving to complete the Transfer of Engagements of OHM into Osprey Housing (OH).

The meeting last night was pivotal as the relevant law is strict on turnout of shareholders and the size of majority required to vote in favour. At least 50% of shareholders were required to participate either in person or by proxy and, of those, 75% were required to vote in favour of the resolution. We are pleased to say both were met with flying colours. 87% of Shareholders participated/voted either through personal attendance on the virtual platform meeting or by proxy which along with the unanimous vote in favour more than meets legislative requirements.

We now have one further Special General Meeting of shareholders on 18 February to confirm the Transfer. This is also required by law to finalise the process.

We are nearly there in what has been a long process but we want to update tenants on the current position. We are now fully focussed on getting the Transfer of Engagements completed to enable the merged single landlord entity to be effective from 1 April 2021.

Thank you to Huntly and Keith residents for your continued patience and support while you’re without gas. We are overwhelmed by the support we’re receiving from the community, including our local partner organisations.

We’re prioritising restoring gas supplies to vulnerable customers this morning and have already restored supplies to the hospital and care homes. We’re aiming for gas to be available to everyone in Huntly and Keith later today.

In the meantime, it’s important your gas supply remains off at the meter until we tell you to turn it back on.

If you need any extra help while you’re without your supply, you can reach SGN on live chat, text SGN on 07490 077 649 or call SGN on 0800 912 1717.

The next update will be at 2pm.

L-R Mike Scott Chairman Osprey Housing, Glenn Adcook CEO, Les Allan, Chair Osprey Housing Moray

Osprey Housing Group staff are celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Investors In People Gold accreditation, a standard achieved by only around 16% of organisations assessed .

Osprey — which provides and manages more than 1,800 properties across the north-east of Scotland — was also commended on how much progress the team has made since first embarking on their IIP journey.

Osprey Group Chairman Mike Scott said: ‘The board is delighted that we have achieved Gold IIP status, and this represents another important milestone in our organisational development.’

The IIP assessor’s report noted that the final part of Osprey’s review took place in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, saying: ‘The impact on all our businesses and organisations has been unprecedented.

‘However, Osprey have continued to deliver first-class services and support for their tenants. To the great credit of everyone at Osprey Housing Group, it is clear that people have really pulled together and delivered in a near-seamless way.’

Osprey CEO Glenn Adcook said: ‘Our staff are of such importance and value to Osprey. Attaining Gold accreditation is not only a major achievement but real recognition for all the hard work and commitment they have shown, day in and day out. We strive to continually improve as an organisation so I’m immensely proud of the team.’ <>p>

The assessment was completed by Remarkable, the provider licensed to deliver Investors in People services in Scotland.

Remarkable interim CEO Bonnie Clarke said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Osprey Housing Group. Investors in People recognises those organisations that are truly committed to their people, to continuous improvement, and to customer service.

‘We have been supporting Osprey since 2013 and we’re delighted to see the continuing dedication represented by this Gold award.’

Investors in People has for nearly 30 years been recognised globally as a leading provider of people accreditation. There are four award levels — Standard, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
